Creating a book cover for a poetry collection so close to your heart can feel like an enormous, deeply personal task, right? How do you distill three years of raw emotion, including surviving a stroke, losing your mom, battling depression, finding your way back to recovery, and rediscovering your purpose, into a single striking image that truly reflects the journey? It’s a lot to carry, both creatively and emotionally. I mean, I just figured out a title. That took me months to come up with. I need a book cover now? I've looked at several options, but nothing calls out to me.

Before diving into design ideas, I need to pause and consider the central themes and emotions that run through the poetry and shape its visual expression. For me, it’s been about:

- Surviving trauma: the stroke itself and everything that followed, including the physical, emotional, and practical challenges of recovery.

- Grieving loss: Saying a final goodbye to my mom while honoring the memories we shared.

- Struggling with mental health during those shadowed days of depression, when even the light feels distant and everyday tasks feel overwhelming.

- Healing and recovery: rediscovering hope, rebuilding resilience, and finding strength once more.

- Rediscovery: Reconnecting with my voice and purpose, like finding a familiar melody in the quiet and remembering a direction that once felt clear.

What about you? Which of these emotions would you want your cover to highlight and make immediately felt? Should it feel raw and real, capturing the full weight of the story, or carry a little more hope beneath the surface?
